Chocolate Milk Makes a Splash at NHSACA Convention

The Built with Chocolate Milk and Coolers for Coaches programs were invited to present at the National High School Athletic Coaches Association (NHSACA) National Convention this summer at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky.

Dr. Chris Mohr, a consulting sports nutritionist for the Cincinnati Bengals, spoke to coaches about the nutrition found in chocolate milk and encouraged them to offer it to their athletes as a post-workout recovery beverage. He also shared the importance of athletes fueling up with chocolate milk and explained how it is a natural source of high-quality protein to build lean muscle, citing more than 20 scientific studies supporting its benefits after strenuous exercise.

During the program, SUDIA staff shared success stories offered by coaches and athletes participating in Coolers for Coaches about the difference chocolate milk has made in athlete performance. One such story from Mike Wilson, strength coach for Father Ryan High School (Nashville, Tennessee), read: “We offer all our 950 student athletes the opportunity to fuel up with chocolate milk after their workouts. We believe chocolate milk is the best post-workout recovery available for our student athletes. The three-to-one-carbohydrate-to-protein ratio is perfect for replacing lost sugars and jump starting protein synthesis.”

Many coaches from the southeast were represented, including Coolers for Coaches Spokesperson and NHSACA Board Member Bubba Davis of Mississippi.

Chocolate milk provided by Organic Valley® was served to coaches during the NHSACA Luncheon and Built with Chocolate Milk/Coolers for Coaches promotional items were provided to all coaches in attendance.
