Today is National Greek Yogurt Day and this oh-so-versatile dairy food is certainly worthy of the celebration! Packed with protein, creamy and delicious Greek yogurt is a superfood all by itself. But perhaps the biggest selling point of Greek yogurt is its ability to work beautifully in recipes and compliment so many other foods!
Let’s explore what makes Greek yogurt so amazing and why it’s one of the easiest foods to incorporate into hundreds of recipes and dishes.
I always keep plain Greek yogurt in the fridge for smoothies and parfaits, but there’s so much more you can do with it! Did you know that Greek yogurt is a great substitute for sour cream, mayonnaise, and buttermilk? Here are some of my favorite ways to use Greek yogurt:
Baked Goods. Greek yogurt can be the secret ingredient to making muffins, bread or cakes extra moist! Give it a try in this Orange Almond Quick Bread or blueberry muffin recipe. Any recipe that calls for sour cream can be swapped for the same amount of Greek yogurt.
Dips. Use Greek yogurt as a base to make an endless variety of easy and flavorful dips. Try this Greek Yogurt Trio recipe and transform one large container of Greek yogurt into three different dips!
Dressings. Skip store-bought and make your next salad dressing at home using Greek yogurt. Add fresh herbs or pair with more dairy ingredients and to make homemade blue cheese dressing.
Toppings. If you’re out of sour cream or just looking to add more protein to your tacos try topping them with a dollop of Greek yogurt. If you’re feeling fancy, you can even create your own crema.
