Need an Excuse for a Milkshake Today? Read This

National Ice Cream Month recently came to a close, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy dairy treats all year long.

The next event to celebrate is this September. Each year, National Chocolate Milkshake Day is held on September 12. It is not to be confused with National Milkshake Day held on June 20, though both are highly important events to celebrate. On this day, it is decreed by all that any milkshake on this day must include three very important ingredients: milk, ice cream, and chocolate sauce.

There are many ways to make this holiday your own. Find an old-fashioned soda fountain that will make you a malted dessert, with plenty of options to add to your visit. Will you be adding whipped cream and chocolate cookie crumbles? A spoonful of peanut butter? Maybe a Neapolitan milkshake with a cherry on top? With your chocolate milkshake base, there are plenty of flavor combinations to try this holiday, so be sure to sip on a thick chocolate milkshake to honor National Chocolate Milkshake Day.

Classically simple, sweet, and delectable, chocolate milkshakes are a treat that can be enjoyed any day of the year. If making it at home, why not try it with this Chocolate Brownie Lovers Ice Cream for extra indulgence? We’ll even let you bend the rules by mixing your chocolate ice cream with root beer and a touch of milk for a time-honored brown cow break.

And while you don’t have to enjoy milkshakes only on their dedicated day of the year, there are plenty to choose from, including National Vanilla Milkshake Day on June 20 and National Coffee Milkshake Day on July 26. We can make an unofficial National I Want a Milkshake Just Because Day every day of the year if that will lead to a glorious sip of this dairy-filled treat. And we do it all because they’re delicious! Do we really need to say more?

Let’s honor an amazing treat this National Chocolate Milkshake Day.
