There’s more to good nutrition than what you eat. Throughout March, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is highlighting this point with the National Nutrition Month theme, Savor the Flavor of Eating Right. Healthy eating is also about enjoying food. Here’s a tip for savoring the flavor of eating: Develop a mindful eating pattern that includes great-tasting food that is good for you, like this Strawberry Banana Smoothie Bowl made with the goodness of dairy.
The Greek yogurt in this smoothie bowl packs a healthy punch, providing 20 grams of protein, probiotics, vitamin B12, vitamin A, potassium and calcium in a single serving. It makes a great breakfast or lunch providing ample protein to satisfy hunger and tide you over until the next meal. The high-quality protein in Greek yogurt can increase the body’s ability to build and repair muscle, making it a terrific workout recovery food.
Improve your eating habits and create a positive relationship with food by being a master of mindful eating. One way to do that is to eat what’s in season; it’s more reminiscent of how the Earth’s calendar really works. Plan your meals according to the seasons—it tastes better too!
