All Butter Pie Crust

Create a simple homemade pie crust for either two regular pies or one deep-dish pie of your choosing.

Total Time: 2 hours
Servings: 2 crusts

Ingredients

  • 2 1⁄2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, very cold
  • 1⁄4 cup ice water

Instructions

  1. In the bowl of a food processor place flour, sugar and salt. Pulse a few times to combine.
  2. Cut butter into small cubes and add to flour mix. Blend together gradually adding ice water. Mixture should start to come together and resemble coarse meal. Do not overmix.
  3. On a floured surface, turn out dough and gather into two equal-sized balls or one large one, depending on need. Flatten into a disk and wrap tightly with plastic wrap; chill at least two hours or overnight.

Notes

Yield is two 9-inch pies or one deep-dish pie
