2018 National School Lunch Week Awards

The 2018 National School Lunch Week contest winners in South Carolina were announced on December 3. The contest measured the increase in school meal participation and milk consumption at participating schools throughout the month of October. Schools with the greatest increases won prizes to improve their school meal programs. This past October, Oak Grove Elementary School in Lexington County District One took home first place for their 35 percent increase in breakfast participation and 10.5 percent milk consumption increase. Oak Grove Elementary won a hallway breakfast cart to continue school breakfast participation. Second place was awarded to Irmo High School in Lexington-Richland County School District Five for their 30 percent breakfast participation increase and 11.3 percent milk consumption increase. Irmo High School received an immersion blender to use for smoothies on the school menus.
