AAFP Southeast Family Medicine Forum Discusses Dairy in the Diet
The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) Southeast Family Medicine Forum held a three-day event for medical providers across the region. Carolina Panthers Sports Dietitian Jennifer Brunelli, MS, RD, LD presented on the topic “What Diet Does and Why it Matters in Primary Care. The topic covered many popular diets like Keto, Whole 30, Intermittent Fasting and Paleo. She also discussed why these diets can be harmful according to what the research states on each type of diet. The presentation covered the importance of all the food groups as stated in the Dietary Guidelines, especially regarding the nutrients found in dairy and research on dairy’s part in disease prevention.
