Buying Artisanal Cheese to Fight Food Insecurity

Kentucky Cheese Cares, a new initiative to help food-insecure families across Kentucky, has launched to help consumers join the fight against hunger. By purchasing cheeses made by Kentucky dairy farmers at select Kroger stores, $0.50 from every unit sold will be donated to Feeding Kentucky, with the funds collected being used to distribute dairy products through the Feeding Kentucky food bank network. The project will begin by featuring three local dairy farms in special coolers funded by The Dairy Alliance, Harvest Home Dairy, Kenny’s Farmhouse Cheese, and Wildcat Mountain Cheese. Through this campaign, more dairy products will be available at Kentucky food banks, increasing families' access to high-quality protein and essential nutrients provided by dairy foods.
