Henry County Schools Receive Special Grant

Due to COVID-19 closing schools early, school nutrition teams have been in seeking ways to continue feeding their students who rely on school meals. Henry County Schools is one of many Georgia school districts that have been awarded a special emergency equipment grant from The Dairy Alliance that assists in procuring equipment to serve meals to children while school is out. Henry was awarded $3,000 to purchase insulated milk crate coolers, rolling coolers and dollies to help move and insulate food around the six school campuses offering a drive-thru meal service. Henry County is serving roughly 5,000 meals a day, with each meal being served with fresh milk. After having to reduce their service days to three days a week, the school system changed their service to offer meals for that day, but also for the next non-service day. With the emergency grant, Henry County Schools is continuing to ensure students can enjoy and stay nourished with milk.
