Leavelle McCampbell Middle School Celebrates American Heart Month with Dairy

Leavelle McCampbell Middle School in Graniteville celebrated "Wear Red Day" for American Heart Month. Leavelle McCampbell Middle School recently received a Fuel Up to Play 60 grant that provided equipment to make smoothies the physical education classes. For "Wear Red Day," The Dairy Alliance served students samples of a new strawberry smoothie recipe and talked about including dairy in a heart-healthy diet. Over 600 students received a smoothie sample, a take-home recipe card, and a dairy promotional item. To end the celebration, students participated in a walk-a-thon using the pedometer and cones purchased from the grant. Students also learned about the importance of walking or exercising daily.
