Lenoir County Schools Receive Grant for School Meals

Lenoir County Public Schools' North Lenoir High School and South Lenoir High School have secured two COVID-19 Emergency School Nutrition Fund grants totaling $4,000 through GENYOUth and The Dairy Alliance to help a current program providing meals to students despite coronavirus outbreak closures.

The school feeding program distributes over 5,000 hot lunches and next-day breakfasts each weekday to current students and anyone under 18. Meals are distributed at five pickup sites, including the two high schools, and delivered by school bus around the county. With these grants, the school system can purchase additional materials needed to store and distribute meals served with milk.
