The National Dairy Council (NDC) and The Dairy Alliance collaborated to host the NextGen Scientists Cohort meeting at the University of Georgia on March 30 and 31. The NextGen Scientist Cohort is a group of 11 nutrition researchers nationwide participating in a 3-year program overseen by NDC. This program aims to reach academics early in their career, address dairy myths and misconceptions and amplify dairy science in health, wellness and sustainable food systems among the scientific community.
The Dairy Alliance is one of 5 checkoff groups participating in this program, represented by Dr. Gennifer Cox, Ph.D., RD, Assistant Professor in the Department of Food and Nutrition at the University of Georgia. The two-day meeting consisted of presentations among UGA faculty, dairy sensory tasting, a presentation on The Dairy Alliance Health and Wellness programs available and a communications training for the researchers.
