Callie Yakubisin gave a virtual presentation to James Madison University (JMU) didactic students, who are studying to be future registered dietitians. Not only did she discuss the nutrient profile of dairy and debunk common dairy myths regarding its safety, its sustainability, and its nutrition compared to plant-based beverages, but she also shared how dairy plays a role in local communities. Callie shared The Dairy Alliance's efforts on behalf of dairy farmers to provide access to milk to everyone, including ongoing work with food banks and dairy programs in schools. Students were interested in this role and were able to ask many questions about milk, bringing another opportunity for future RDs to share the importance of milk consumption with their future patients.
