Ten Cumberland County schools competed in a smoothie and parfait contest. Yogurt, milk and fruit were used to make the smoothies. Yogurt and other toppings were used for the parfaits. The Dairy Alliance assisted with planning, promoting and providing prizes for the smoothie and parfait contest.
The first-place winner of the contest was Stone Memorial High School with their Love Yourself Parfait using fresh-baked cookies. Second place went to Brown Elementary for their Waffle Cone Bowl Parfaits. Third place was a tie between Pleasant Hill Elementary for the Hot Cocoa Parfait with Rockin' Ola Granola and Phoenix School for the Everything Strawberry Parfaits and Smoothies, which included mix-ins and fruit varieties. All students and staff were able to enjoy the recipe submissions, and after receiving positive feedback from students, cafeteria managers announced that they will continue to serve new parfaits and smoothies. Sparking students' creativity, everyone won with delicious new dairy recipes!
