Students Tour Wright Dairy

18 University of North Carolina Greensboro Dietetic Intern and Culinary Medicine students visited Wright Dairy and learned about cow care, cow nutrition and sustainability practices from dairy farmer Jason Wright. For most students, this was their first time on a dairy farm, so many students were surprised to see how relaxed cows were during milking and throughout the day. Additionally, students were surprised to learn of the steps put into place to provide safe, nutritious milk to consumers, such as discarding the milk of a cow on antibiotics or antibiotic testing before milk can be transported from the farm to the processor. Following the tour, these students have a better knowledge of dairy which they can share with their future clients.
