Instructions
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, grated cheese, garlic, chopped herbs, salt, and a pinch of ground black pepper.
Dip the slices of bread in the milk and egg mixture, letting each slice soak for about 15-20 seconds per side.
Melt butter in a pan over medium heat before adding the soaked slices of bread. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side or until each slice is crispy around the edges and golden brown in the center.
Looking for some easy additions to bring more balance and staying power to this dish? Consider topping each slice with cottage cheese and a drizzle of honey and/or adding sliced avocado and chili oil. You could also serve these with a side of sautéed spinach and mushrooms for a pop of color or add a spoonful of plain yogurt and a dash of hot sauce as a topping with an extra kick.
Why should I use real dairy foods in recipes?
Real dairy foods offer added protein and nutrients that plant-based alternatives do not have.
