Dairy Drinks: An Easy Christmastime Latte for All Season Long

As we put up the Christmas tree and lights, arrange our collection of nutcrackers, and assign stockings while holiday music plays in the background, the moment isn’t perfect until we take a break with warm dairy drinks as fitting to the holiday as our ugly Christmas sweaters and jingle bell socks. Move over eggnog, because this gingerbread latte will let you get your milk mustache going all holiday season long.

Seasonal beverages served in festive mugs are a requirement all season long. You can find your favorite hot chocolate, serve milk punch or eggnog for a crowd, or stick to Santa’s beverage of choice, milk! Make the most of the season (and your milk) and bring the holiday flavors to your morning cup of coffee.

Fun Holiday Dairy Drinks: The Gingerbread Latte

A simple but delicious option is this Gingerbread Latte which is a perfect complement to the cheer of your holiday prep. This Christmastime drink will bring the holiday cheer to every early morning. All you need to do is pre-make the gingerbread syrup to have it on hand for those mornings when caffeine is needed to open your eyes.

To make the gingerbread syrup, combine molasses, brown sugar, and spices ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a heavy-bottom saucepan. Heat the mixture and bring to a low simmer. Whisk in water and stir until all the brown sugar is dissolved and the spices are mixed in, or about 5 minutes. Remove from the pot from the heat. Transfer the syrup to a glass bottle or jar for easy access tomorrow morning.

The next day, all that is left to do is make your preferred coffee or espresso and add your desired amount of gingerbread syrup. For a coffee shop feel, warm milk in a large microwave-safe container. Froth the milk and add to your coffee, topping with cinnamon for additional warmth.

Milk does more for your morning latte than creates a pleasantly creamy foam. Milk is a natural source of zinc, selenium, and protein, which are essential nutrients your body needs to stay healthy. Including milk in your essential holiday beverages brings a natural immune system supporter. Now that is the perfect addition to your feel-good tradition!
